?:scopeNote
  • One of the earlier African amphorae of Graeco-Roman type (Empereur & Hesnard, 1987).This form represents perhaps the typological link between the amphorae of van der Werff Type 3 and Tripolitanian 1. The association of this amphora form with Dressel’s Type 26 is not certain. It is a small sized and wide-bodied amphora, with a triangular rim in section, slightly moulded on the external face. There are short rounded handles attached on the hour-glass profiled neck. The bottom is short and button shaped. (en)
