  • Survives in two pieces. Cleft socket of circular section, bent and distorted over the lower part, where it has snapped. Three iron rings lie on the socket within the cleft section. The socket tapers beyond the cleft to a solid shank of square section. The shank tapers gradually from 14mm to 7mm at the head. The head is barbed with two short extensions of rectangular section curving from the stem. Beyond the barbs the head tapers to a rounded point of circular section. Patchy sand accretions along entire length. Wood remains within socket; no trace of any other organic remains.
