  • Two staples, found in close association. Both are U-shaped with flat central bars of the same length as the arms. The arms are of rectangular section, tapering to sharp points. The central bar of one of the staples is bent in plan towards the other, whilst they are otherwise parallel. Its arms slant away from each other and it may have been hammered in first, with the second staple added as a more successful reinforcement. Heavily accreted in sand with no wood remains visible.
