An iron bound wooden bucket, for which only the iron framework now survives. It consists of two circular bands at the base, the upper one of rectangular section lying directly above the lower one, which has a semi-circular section. Above these lies a third band, again of semi-circular section and heavily accreted in sand. Further up the bucket is another band of the same type, as well as two conjoining iron discs with shafts of circular section at their centres. They were originally set vertically on this band, probably as a repair to the bucket. The two upper bands are now accreted together, with one inside the other. Both are broad and rectangular in section, with widths of 27 and 40mm. Escutheons are attached to either side of the outer band. These include a closed loop at the apex, set perpendicular to the bands and enclosing a heavy iron suspension ring. The escutcheons taper to rounded ends, with discoidal washers at their lower terminals, lying between the terminals and the wood of the bucket. Seen in profile it is clear that the bucket has slumped, particularly on one side, with the highest part remaining at the north. It is undecorated and lacks a handle. No objects were found inside the bucket.
