  • Survives in one piece. Cleft socket of circular section with wood remains of shaft visible. Cavity occupies most of socket with short solid shank beyond. Transverse nail set c. 40mm from lower end of socket, extending right across it. Blade widens in concave curves to rounded points close to the stem. Tapers from these before widening again in broad convex curves, and tapering to the rounded point. Lentoid section to blade. Slight sand accretion with small amount of possible mineralised textile on part of socket on one side, surviving merely as oriented sand grains. No other organic material visible.
