  • Cleft socket of circular section, tapering towards blade, with short section of solid shank beyond. Slight wood remains visible both within socket and on top of it. Traces of two nails set transversely into socket about 25mm from the lower end. Blade widens from shank in straight lines with widest point close to shank. Tapers evenly thereafter to rounded point. Sword-like blade, lentoid in section. Light sand accretion, mostly on socket. No definite organic remains visible, although a patch of sand on the lower part of the blade is similar to mineralised textile.
