Sword with copper-alloy pommel. The pattern-welded blade is in three pieces and the tang and pommel are separate. The blade is more or less parallel-sided with a pointed tip and slightly sloping shoulders, but much is obscured by the remains of the scabbard, including any fuller which might be present. The tang preserves traces of organic upper and lower guards; depths 10 mm and approximately 15 mm respectively. On both sides at the top of the tang are the remains of semi-circular, mineral-preserved organic 'mid-ribs' 5 mm wide, which continue under the traces of the guard. The pommel is of low, truncated pyramidal form, hollow and with a rectangular base that has slightly convex long sides (SF no. 1095); there is a slot in the top for the end of the tang; length, 30 mm; width, 15 mm (max); height, 9 mm.
