A fragment of a stone of lower greensand, generally of a brown colour, suggesting that it was produced locally in the Saltwood area, rather than further to the east. Near flat on one side but surviving in slightly degraded condition, with some lamination of the stone. Lightly curved in profile, but almost rectangular in section, with a curved circumference along part of its edge, flattened over the remainder. Used as a head stone in the grave. Some resemblance to Folkestone unfinished querns but the stone type is wrong for a quern (too soft) and it has been shaped as a headstone. Trace of a partial perforation along one edge.
